Christian Hernandez is beginning his fourth year of medical school and has already spent years working to end domestic violence. He has provided culturally appropriate services for groups that work with gender-based violence. He was a bilingual victim services specialist for UMOS and also has worked with End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin and UNIDOS supporting youth and adults who have experienced sexual violence, domestic violence or human trafficking. He also spent a year in Panama as a global health researcher. The Medical College of Wisconsin honored him last year for continuing his community engagement in med school by helping pioneer a violence-prevention program for Latino men, a collaboration with UMOS and the United Health Foundation. He’s currently the Midwest co-director of the Latino Medical Student Association.
