The media in Milwaukee is as segregated as the city itself, says Nyesha Stone, a 20-something  who started her own media company, called Carvd N Stone (www.carvdnstone.com). The media tend to gravitate toward the extremes, she says. There’s the great news, like the DNC selecting Milwaukee, or the terrible news, including violence and crime. There are not enough stories being told between those extremes, where everyday Milwaukeeans live, argues Nyesha, who graduated from UWM with a degree in journalism in 2018. She was the first in her family to get a college degree, and she is the only person in her family to own a business. Nyesha has worked for CNN, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Waukesha Freeman, Urban Milwaukee and the Shepherd Express.
